We have five libraries in the Kaipara District. Dargaville Library is the only public library and there are four community libraries, run by volunteers, based in Mangawhai, Kaiwaka, Maungaturoto and Kaiwaka. Services may differ slightly throughout the region but all the libraries offer free WIFI. You can order books from any library in the district to be delivered to the library closest to you.

 

Dargaville Library offers the following services:

FREE 24/7 WIFI - available outside the building after hours.

Free computers - we have 4 chrome stations and 12 chrome books available for use during library hours for 30 minute sessions.

Printing - Black and white or colour from your own device or our computers.

If you are printing from your own device for the first time, please allow some time to set this up to our printer.

Some fun stuff: Dargaville Library runs activities during the school holidays: craft and/or the Storywalk®. Keep an eye on our Facebook page or the events calendar on the homepage for more information.

What else do we have? 

  • We have new books in all the time. Keep an eye out on our instagram and facebook pages as well as our seasonal catalogues. We display new books in the library and you can explore what is new on our online catalogue here.
  • DVD's - we have a large range of DVD's available to loan. These are free to borrow for 1 week. We have documentaries and some children's DVD's available to loan for free.
  • Magazines and Newspapers - we have a large collection of digital and print magazines and newspapers. The NZ Herald, Northern Advocate and the Kaipara Lifestyler are available to read in the library.
  • Large print and talking books - We have a good collection available for loan. Ask a librarian what we have available for the visually impaired.
  • eBooks, eAudiobooks, eMagazines, eNewspapers and eComics are all available online for free. Find out about eBooks, eNewspapers and eMags here.
